The Steenstra family is the founder of the "Windmill Cookie". They immigrated from the Netherlands to Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1926. In 1947 they built a bakery to make their family's delicious speculaas cookie recipe. Dutch speculaas cookies became known as "Windmill Cookies" in the US. After a fire burned the bakery in 1988 the family rebuilt in Hudsonville, a town west of Grand Rapids. The Steenstra's St. Claus cookies are still made from the original family recipe, using only natural ingredients and no preservatives.

Great Cookies, Perfectly Packed :-)

What can I say, these are the real deal. I ordered 32 packages of them, and they were very well packed and not one broke. Very happy. These are the ones from childhood.

I haven’t had these YET!

I have been searching for Windmill Cookies with clean ingredients. I think I might have found them! I’m hoping I can get a list of ingredients before I purchase the cookies. Hopefully the bakery will provide a list of ingredients on their comment thread. I can’t wait to try these Windmill Cookies!

Best Windmill Cookie EVER!

My grandmother introduced me to the Windmill cookie and I have been eating them ever since, for over 60 years now. Then I visited my brother in MI recently and he introduced me to the “real” Windmill cookie…well, if a person like me can be “blown away” by a cookie, it has to be extra special. Believe me when I say that I was blown away! I can no longer eat just any Windmill cookie. None can compare or even come close to this brand. They will be on my “continual order” list from now on. I loved the story behind this brand of Windmill cookie. For lovers of Windmill cookies, you must give these a try…you’ll never go back to another brand😋
